Creative workshop with mentor Milko Lazar
5 - 6 July 2017

Composer, pianist and saxophonist Milko Lazar will hold a two-day workshop during the 2017 International Saxophone Meeting in Nova Gorica. The main purpose of the workshop is to explore the uncharted musical territories between improvisation and composition, between modern jazz and contemporary classical music, between articulation and free-flow jazz expression, in order to re-compose them into a new entity.

Milko Lazar will lay the foundations for creative work by providing small unfinished compositions or outlines that the participants will be asked to develop in different ways. Participants' contributions will be surely welcome, so they will be asked to bring their own pieces (not longer than 3 minutes) open for different saxophone lineups.

During the two days the participants will use the improvised compositions to set up a concert programme for the final show of the 2017 SAXGO Festival under the baton of Milko Lazar.

The workshop is intended for all the classical and jazz saxophone players, who are interested in extending their means of expression and daring to venture into the unknown.

A wide variety - from bass to soprano or even sopranino saxophone playes - will be most welcome.
