Two notable Slovene musicians are coming to Nova Gorica for the fourth concert of the season: violinist Žiga Brank and pianist Peter Milić.
Violinist Žiga Brank studied with Christiane Hutcap at the Rostock Academy of Music and Drama and at the Karlsruhe Academy of Music in the class of Josef Rissin. He received a number of awards, including the first Škerjanc Award. He holds solo recitals in Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Ireland. In addition, Brank leads master classes in Slovenia and abroad, where he also worked as a jury member at competitions.
Petar Milić is ranked among the best Slovene pianists on the international level. He graduated at the Ljubljana Academy of Music and continued his studies in the class of Klaus Hellwig at the Berlin Academy of Arts. During his studies, he earned himself a number of awards; among others, he won the Nikolai Rubinstein Competition in Paris and received the Prešeren Award for Students for the performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4. He gives piano recitals in Slovenia and abroad; in Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Bratislava, Geneva, and Miami. As a soloist, he also plays with distinguished Slovene and foreign orchestras.
