Velika dvorana Nova Gorica Cultural Centre

The Slovenian Chamber Choir, a professional singing choir, was established in 1991 by Dr. Mirko Cuderman, who acts as artistic director of the choir to this day. Since 1998, the Slovenian Chamber Choir has functioned as an independent organizational unit of the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. Its primary role has been to perform both vocal-instrumental and a capella pieces for the vocal season ticket concerts. In addition, the Slovenian Chamber Choir often participates in vocal-instrumental projects with both Slovenian and international orchestras. They perform approximately thirty-five concerts each musical season.

Among the most noteworthy achievements of the Slovenian Chamber Choir is the recording of thirty CD’s of Slovenian sacral music, Musica sacra Slovenica, and thirty-six recordings that present an extensive collection of Slovenian choral music. They also collaborate in recording choral compositions for the archives of RTV Slovenia and the Zagreb concert agency. The choir has played a significant role in Croatia. On several occasions, it has received the Ivan Lukačić award at the Varaždin Baroque Evenings festival. In 2001, the choir also won the Porin Award for the best performance of a Croatian composition, and in 2006, the Croatian government gave the choir a special certificate for foreign performers who have been important to the preservation of Croatia’s musical legacy. After not having performed in Novo Gorica for some years, the Slovenian Chamber Choir will return to the Cultural Centre and sing under the baton of choirmaster Marko Vatovec.
